Museum Launches Giving Campaign To Benefit Yes, Every Child Initiative

COLUMBIA, SC – EdVenture Children’s Museum announced “I Drink Bad Coffee for Kids”, an inaugural giving campaign to benefit Yes, Every Child – an initiative which provides opportunities for underserved families in South Carolina to experience EdVenture through reduced admission, outreach and educational programming. The museum launched the campaign to encourage coffee drinkers to substitute a regular Cup of Joe for their usual gourmet mochas and lattes for a short time and donate the money saved to the museum’s campaign.

“A visit to the local barista for that hand-crafted espresso-based beverage is a small indulgence a lot of us afford ourselves each day,” said Louis Fawcett, vice president of development at EdVenture. “We are challenging the community to sacrifice the value of a few premium cups of coffee and use those extra dollars to change children’s lives.”

The “I Drink Bad Coffee for Kids” campaign provides different levels of giving starting at as little as $25.

“We established different giving levels to enable more people to join the campaign and support our efforts to provide the means for every child to experience EdVenture’s unique approach to learning through play and exploration,” said Fawcett. “We also wanted this to be a fun campaign, so we are encouraging folks to create videos of themselves explaining why they are choosing to drink bad coffee for kids.”

Several “bad coffee drinker” videos have already been posted to EdVenture’s YouTube channel and are popping up on the museum’s other social media outlets.

Each person participating in the campaign will receive two guest passes to EdVenture and a reusable coffee sleeve featuring the “I Drink Bad Coffee for Kids” logo. In addition, a coffee social featuring premium coffee by First Citizens Café will be held in March to celebrate donors for their contributions to the campaign.

You can sign up to participate and choose your level of giving at www.edventure.org. Please share your “bad coffee” experience on social media to encourage others to support this cause that is changing children’s lives in your community.

Yes, Every Child provides accessibility to educational programming to all families regardless of cultural, ethnic, geographic or socio-economic barriers. Through Yes, Every Child, EdVenture provides health education and wellness programs in underserved communities and offers $1 admission to families who qualify for SNAP, WIC and Medicaid.
