July 28, 2016

EdVenture announced the hiring of Robin K McCants as the organization’s Director of Extended Day Programs (Club EdVenture). McCants, who grew up in upstate New York State, she draws on more than 39 years of professional experience to empower teachers and parents to encourage all children to soar. With experience as a certified teacher, early childhood administrator and mother of three grown children and five wonderful grandchildren, she understands the promise of every child, as well as the diversity of their needs.

After graduating from the Roberts Wesleyan College, McCants began her teaching career in both private and public schools. She gained her M.Ed. while she was working for Genesee Valley BOCESS as the Early Childhood Director serving 21 school districts. It was during this time her school became the first NY school early childhood center to become National Association for Education of Young Children Accredited. After winning a national award for excellence for her Even Start Family Literacy program, McCants came to South Carolina to continue her career for Spartanburg Seven School District as the Title One and Math/Science Coordinator. Her advocacy for children and families and talents were recognized by the SC Department of Education. This lead to a position at the SC State Department of Education where she held a variety of positions including: Regional Coordinator, Director of Parents as Teachers, Program Monitor of Special Education, and Director of the Office of Early Childhood.

McCants specializes in research-based strategies in educational leadership, relationship-building, motivation, preventing the factors that compromise the fulfillment of a child’s maximum potential and implementing positive interventions in “real life” settings. She understands the daily struggles and frustrations of educators and parents, and honors the “hero within” each individual she has the privilege to work alongside. She is a National staff developer for Kaplan Early Learning Company and Teaching Strategies and has provided staff development to over 5,000 teacher and administrators.

“We found the perfect person to lead our Club EdVenture Program in Robin,” said Nikki Williams, EdVenture Executive Vice President. “To have someone who brings expertise, passion, and experience from around the nation, and understands our children, our teachers and mission will be a great match for our program”.
