Enhanced attendee experience at the Volvo Car Open

New jumbotron, additional seating at Club Court and live match streaming

The Volvo Car Open has added a variety of viewer experiences to enhance its fans’ engagement on-site during the tournament, taking place April 2nd – 10th on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina.

The biggest change on-site will happen at Althea Gibson Club Court. For the first time in tournament history, club court will have an on-court announcer, providing introductions for the players, conducting post match interviews and interacting with the crowds. The court will also receive supplementary seating surrounding its perimeter, offering a more intimate stadium feeling.

Billie Jean King Stadium Court will receive an additional jumbotron, giving every seat the perfect view for highlights, scores and in-stadium experiences. The 11′ x 17′ large screen televisions will be housed on the Northwest and Southeast sides of the stadium.

Viewing stations will be situated around the grounds, providing attendees different vantage points of the courts. These will be positioned on outer play and practice courts.

Lastly, the Volvo Car Open has partnered with Stre.am to broadcast live video from all outer tournament tennis courts, including practice courts. Five courts will be affixed with multiple cameras showcasing different angles of the court. Fans can tap into the URL (https://stre.am/volvocaropen), which will go live on April 2nd, and get a live look at the action happening on various courts. This is the first time Stre.am has provided a platform for its users to view multiple channels at one time.

“We are extremely excited to provide a new level of entertainment for our fans,” said Bob Moran, Volvo Car Open Tournament Director. “From creating a second tennis destination at Club Court to providing a live look at the courts around our grounds, fans now have the ability to tap into any Volvo Car Open match from anywhere on-site, or the world for that matter via ESPN2, ESPN3 or Stre.am.”

All singles matches on Billie Jean King Stadium Court and Althea Gibson Club Court will be streamed via ESPN3, and the tournament will receive live coverage on ESPN2 for select matches beginning on April 7th.
