A Glorious Cause: Author Lee G. Brockington presents “Patriots & Loyalists: The Battle at Home”

June 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

On Thursday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carvers Bay Library (13048 Choppee Road, Hemingway, SC 29554), the ever-popular Lee G. Brockington will bring “A Glorious Cause” to a grand finale with her fascinating presentation on conflicts between Patriots and Loyalists right here at home in Georgetown County. An author and cultural historian, Brockington is a signature figure when it comes to her knowledge of the intricacies of Georgetown County’s multifaceted history. Her books include Plantation Between the Waters: A Brief History of Hobcaw Barony; Pawleys Island with Steve Roberts; and the new edition of Pawleys Island: Stories from the Porch.

The Georgetown County Library (GCL) will host a series of 20 public educational programs and exhibits as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative of the Georgetown County Library.” The programs, which will be free and open to the public, will take place at each of GCL’s 5 facilities across Georgetown County from March 2026 through June 2026. The project is made possible by a $39,300 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
