ABOUT THE GEORGETOWN SC GAZETTE

Karen Owens is the Publisher of the GeorgetownSC Gazette, a new digital platform dedicated to accurate, community-centered reporting for Georgetown County. A dynamic, results-oriented executive, she has a successful track record in improving operational performance and achieving public relations goals for business, government, and non-profit organizations. Karen is committed to strengthening the community through powerful local storytelling. We are proud to be 100% locally owned and operated in South Carolina.

The Gazette launched in January 2026 and covers all the good news happening in Georgetown, Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet and Andrews.

The Gazette is part of a family of local online business magazines in South Carolina founded in 2006 with a vision to help companies highlight their news, events and job openings for free. We are also free to subscribers. There are no pay-walls or subscription fees.

We are committed to nonpartisan journalism. While we may report on elections, public policy, and the people seeking public office, we do not endorse candidates, advocate for political positions, or take sides.

Our site is designed so that you can upload your announcements (press releases and events) directly to the site though our free membership portal. This is the best way to guarantee that your news is published!

1.  On the top right corner of the website, click on ‘SIGNUP / LOGIN’. On your first visit, create ‘New User Registration’. (Username and email are the only required fields)

2.  Next, on your dashboard, click on 'Submit a Press Release' or 'Add an Event' or 'List Your Business'. Be sure to add a logo or a photo.

3.  When you are done, click ‘Submit for Review’. You will have to wait for us to accept your submission before you see it on the site. It should be visible by the end of the day.

That's it!
