Dorchester County invites community members to join the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM. This year, the event will be held at the Dorchester County Human Services Building, located at 500 N. Main St., Summerville.

This program will honor the courage and sacrifice of U.S. military personnel and will feature opening remarks from Councilwoman Harriet A. Holman, a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army. The keynote address will be delivered by Chief Deputy Sam Richardson, also a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army.

The ceremony will include traditional elements such as the Posting of Colors, the National Anthem, and a special wreath-laying at the Veterans Memorial. The event will conclude with a musical performance of Taps, symbolizing remembrance and respect.
