Influencers, ideas and uncertainty: How Gen Z lives social media
Prominent social media influencers, subject matter experts and young people from all over the world are coming together Friday, Feb. 3 at the University of South Carolina to discuss the role and impact of social media on today’s youth in an international forum hosted by the University of South Carolina College of Information and Communications. Please join us!
Our event will be held at the Russell House Theatre starting at 9 a.m. on USC’s campus and streamed worldwide by UNESCO, will include:
Session One: Social Media Usage
USC students, as well as young people all over the world, will join the forum virtually. They will discuss how they use social media and its impact on their lives.
Session Two: Lifestyle & Influencer Panel
Well-known social media influencers explaining what they do and why they are successful. This group will include Sarah Schauer, Jenna Palek, Olivia Carville, Jabari Evans, Aqsa Masrat, Dr. Brooke Duffy and Ross Mac.
Session Three: Social Change Panel
Academic and industry experts providing insights into the power of social media in youth culture. This group will include Annie Wu Henry, Green Girl Leah, Mark Owen Jones, Alexandra Kuziva, V Spehar with underthedesknews and Shoshana Weisman.
Our youth forum will feed into a broader forum to be held by UNESCO Feb. 21-23 in Paris. This forum will focus on ways to regulate social media while protecting free speech.
