Laurens Public Libraries Host Nature-Themed Craft Programs This September

September 9 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

This September, the Laurens County Public Libraries are offering two special craft programs designed to bring families closer to nature through creativity and fun.

Adopt a Pet Rock at the Laurens Library
On Monday, September 9th, young nature enthusiasts are invited to the Laurens Library (1017 W. Main Street) for the second annual Pet Rock Adoption Event. Beginning at 4 pm, children ages 6-10 can choose and personalize their own “pebbly pal” to take home. Each child will receive a carrying case and a Pet Rock Care Handbook, ensuring their new stony friend is well looked after. This hands-on activity is perfect for sparking creativity and giving kids a unique keepsake to cherish.

Firefly Fun at the Clinton Library
The excitement continues on Tuesday, September 10th, at the Clinton Library (107 Jacobs Highway) with two firefly-themed activities. The day starts at 11 am with a Craftin’ at Clinton session where participants of all ages can create their own glowing firefly jar. Later, at 4 pm, children aged 6-10 can join the “Light Up the Sky, Firefly: STEM with Ashley” program. This interactive session combines science and craft, allowing kids to learn about fireflies and create a project that lights up just like these fascinating insects.

Insect Excitement Continues
The insect-themed fun doesn’t stop there! On Thursday, September 12th, the regular weekly Storytime at 4 pm will feature a special Summer Bug theme. Children aged 0-5 can enjoy stories and activities that celebrate the creepy-crawlies of the natural world, making it a perfect way to end a week of nature-inspired creativity.

Both the Laurens and Clinton Library branches are dedicated to providing engaging and educational programs for children, and this month’s nature-themed crafts are a great way to encourage kids to explore the world around them. Don’t miss out on these unique opportunities to get creative and learn something new!
