Celebrate Black Music Month by joining Richland Library for a vibrant morning of music with Pierce Freelon from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at the Richland Library Main (1431 Assembly St., 29201).

Known for his joyful blend of hip-hop, electronic jazz, and soul, Freelon’s music is crafted for today’s modern families. His lyrics are both honest and playful, featuring rich melodies and fresh beats that invite both kids and adults into his unique world. Freelon will share stories and perform selections from his Grammy-nominated children’s music albums, “AnceStars” (2023) and “Black to the Future” (2021).

This event is an opportunity for families to experience the dynamic and modern sounds of Pierce Freelon, whose work has been featured on the Today Show, NPR, and Billboard. In addition to his music, Freelon is the author of two children’s picture books, “Daddy and Me: Side by Side” (2023) and “Daddy-Daughter Day” (2022). He has also contributed to PBS Kids animated series’ Alma’s Way and Work it Out Wombats!, and is the co-creator and voice of the PBS Kids podcast Jamming on the Job.

This event is a part of the Richland Library Summer Learning Challenge.
