Unveiling Laurens’ Ghostly Legends: Local Author Peggy Cwiakala Hosts Book Launch at Laurens County Museum

Explore the haunting tales and timeless legends of Laurens County at the exclusive book launch for Ghosts on the Square: Legends, Lore, and Lies by local author Peggy Cwiakala. The event, hosted at the Laurens County Museum, will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 116 South Public Square, Laurens, SC.
This community-centered celebration will feature refreshments, selected readings by guest authors, and a meet-and-greet with Peggy Cwiakala. Signed copies of her book will be available for purchase at $17, with 50% of proceeds benefiting the Laurens County Museum.
About the Book
Ghosts on the Square: Legends, Lore, and Lies delves into the captivating mysteries and folklore of Laurens. Cwiakala brings to life a series of unforgettable characters, including:
Belle, a spirited fire horse still wandering her beloved garden paths.

“This book is my love letter to Laurens County,” says Cwiakala. “I’m inspired by the rich history and the stories that continue to resonate here. I can’t wait to share these legends with the community that shaped them.”
About the Author
Peggy Cwiakala, a former coffee shop owner on Laurens Square, is also a librarian and educator whose deep connection to the area informs her vivid storytelling. She is the founder of Pearl Writing Company, a research service, and the author of several books available on Amazon.
