Expansions planned as Richland Library Farmers Market renewed

February 7, 2018

Due to the overwhelming success and popularity of the Richland Library Farmers Market, we are excited to announce the weekly program will continue indefinitely at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street).

The pilot program, which launched on November 15, 2017, enables customers to pick up some fresh produce along with their fresh picks. Payment methods include food stamps, SNAP and WIC benefits, and choices range from locally-grown fruits and vegetables to honey and preserves.

Additionally, there are plans to expand the program moving forward. “We have received great feedback from the community,” says Tracy Allen, Director of Library Experience, Main. “Based on that, we’re looking into more vendors who offer different resources – such as baked goods, eggs and meat. You may see some cooking demonstrations pop up as well, which would be an impactful learning experience of how to prepare the food that you’re buying.”

Please continue to join us from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. every Wednesday at our Main location. Also, stay tuned – Richland Library is exploring the addition of a weekly farmers market at our Sandhills location (763 Fashion Drive) in the coming months. Follow richlandlibrary.com for the latest details.

The Richland Library Farmers Market is made possible, thanks to our partnership with End Child Hunger SC.
