First ReWa Clean Water Challenge slated for next Tuesday

GREENVILLE, SC – Students from Fisher Middle School and Hughes Academy will be competing next week to win the inaugural ReWa Clean Water Challenge.
The ReWa Clean Water Challenge is a partnership between Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) and Greenville County Schools to create more awareness about the importance of clean water.
The students from these schools will be competing Tuesday, May 17 from 9 a.m. until noon by presenting their end of year projects related to water quality, wastewater treatment and ReWa public outreach initiatives. A panel of judges consisting of ReWa and school district staff will name a winner. The event will be held at the main ReWa offices on Mauldin Road.
Each group also will be taking a written exam that consists of questions related to the wastewater treatment process. The test and rubrics have been developed according to district 7th grade science standards. This year’s Clean Water Challenge serves as a pilot program and the goal is to incorporate additional schools next year.
