First wave of players commit to South Carolina College All Star Bowl
December 19, 2012GREENVILLE, SC – December 19, 2012 – A host of Palmetto State football players have signed up to take part in the inaugural South Carolina College All Star Bowl this March.
Early commitments for the Lowcountry team include Emmanuel Houston, a wide receiver from Benedict College; Nick Adams, a wide receiver from University of Alabama-Birmingham; Tremaine Germany, a long snapper from Benedict College; Andrew Power, a tight end from North Texas University; B.J. Sumter, a defensive tackle from the University of Wyoming; Leonard Paulk, a defensive back from East Carolina University; Sean Kennedy, an offensive lineman from Benedict College; Gee Gee Greene, a slot back from the U.S. Naval Academy; Jordan Mosely, an offensive lineman from Johnson C. Smith College; Demazio Skelton, a defensive back from Georgia State, and Taylor Wyndham, a defensive end from the University of Kentucky.
Upstate commitments include Austin Sargent, an offensive lineman from Gardner Webb University; Byron Best, a cornerback from Toledo University; Israel Pickens, an offensive lineman from Tusculum College; Cartier Rice, a cornerback from the University of Kentucky; Lenard Williams, a defensive end from Washington State University; Apollo Stretch, a linebacker from Newberry College; Tra’ves Bush, a linebacker from the U.S. Naval Academy; and Randall Hawkins, a wide receiver from Concord University.
South Carolina College All Star Bowl officials announced a Watch List of 155 players last week. Rosters will be finalized in early January.
The Lowcountry team will be coached by Willie Jeffries, the legendary retired head coach of South Carolina State University and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Players from the Upstate (or north of the I-20 line) will be coached by Danny Ford, who led Clemson University to the 1981 National Championship.

This list includes seven players who received All-ACC recognition, one All-SEC honored player, one All-Big Ten, 11 All-SoCon honorees and 14 All-Big South honorees.
The South Carolina College All Star Bowl will be played on March 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. at North Greenville University. The game will be aired live to more than 4.5 million viewers throughout South Carolina as well as parts of Georgia and North Carolina. NFL veterans George Rogers, Patrick Sapp, Brandon Bennett, Woodrow Dantzler and others will serve as mentors to the players as they prepare for the game. Clemson and University of South Carolina broadcasters Will Merritt and Todd Ellis will provide commentary and insight for the game.
