Four assistant coaches added to The College All Star Bowl

December 16, 2013

GREENVILLE, SC – December 16, 2013 –  The College All Star Bowl has added four coaches with a wealth of football experience to its 2014 roster.

The four coaches are Jim Riggs, Stanford Jennings, Brian Bratton and R.J. Webb, who will go on the staffs of head coaches Danny Ford and Willie Jeffries for the February 14 game being played at Furman University’s Paladin Stadium.

Jennings is a Summerville native where he played high school football for the legendary John McKissick. After a stellar career at Furman University, he was drafted in the third round of the 1983 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played for Sam Wyche, commissioner of The College All Star Bowl. Jennings played seven years in the NFL — highlighted by a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXIII.

Riggs was a two-time All-ACC selection at Clemson, and was a fourth round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1987. He played seven years in the NFL as a tight end with the Bengals and Washington Redskins. He was one of the blockers for Jennings in Super Bowl XXIII.

Bratton was an all-conference wide receiver and All-American kick returner at Furman University between 2002 and 2005. After a brief stint in the NFL, Bratton went onto the CFL where he played on two Grey Cup championship teams with the Montreal Allouettes. In 2012, he won the Canadian Football League Players’ Association’s Tom Pate Memorial Award as the player with outstanding sportsmanship and someone who has made a significant contribution to his team, his community and Association.

Webb was a four-year star at Furman as well, and played in the 2013 South Carolina College All Star Bowl, the precursor to The College All Star Bowl. He signed with the Carolina Panthers as a free agent, but was injured in training camp.
