GDG brings home coveted award from ARDA world annual convention 2017

April 10, 2017

Garvin Design Group, in collaboration with TAG Architecture, brought home the highly sought-after Award for Resort Architecture from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) 2017 Awards Gala Dinner at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans on March 29th.

This award-winning Hilton project, Ocean Oak Resort, is located in Hilton Head, South Carolina, along the central section of South Forest Beach Drive. The time-share resort includes a stunning 6-story residential facility, along with a 2-story administration and amenity building, pool-side food & beverage pavilion, outdoor pool restrooms and a seating pavilion. Together these facilities and features complete a $40 million total project investment with nearly $2 million specifically for the guest room design, offering a wide array of amenities.

“Ocean Oak represented a rare opportunity for us to redevelop a former premier oceanfront site into a destination resort for Hilton Head Island,” said Mark Timbes, Principal at GDG and lead architect on the project. “This award testifies to the commitment of Strand Capitol (the developer), Hilton Grand Vacations, and the entire design and construction team to implementing a project of the highest quality and rich guest experience.”
