Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands Celebrated Two Local Women of Distinction

SPARTANBURG, SC  – Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands honored two women at its 2nd Annual Women of Distinction Boots & Pearls event on Thursday evening, October 9. This recognition and fundraising event honors outstanding women from Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union counties for their service to others and impact on their community. This year’s honorees are Ruth L. Cate, Attorney, and Renée Buyck Romberger, Vice President, Community Health Policy and Strategy, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

More than 100 people attended the fundraising and recognition event that was held at Hub-Bub. Amy Wood, Co-Anchor, WSPA News Channel 7, was the emcee and one of the evening’s highlights was a video presentation in which the two honorees had an opportunity to share the contributions they have made in improving the quality of life in our community and ways in which they exemplify women who demonstrate courage, confidence, and character.

Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands serves 11,500 girls, grades K5-12, and 4,700 adults in 22 counties of central and western South Carolina, including Abbeville, Aiken, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Sumter, and Union.
