Gov. Nikki Haley Signs S.C. Brewery Bill

H.3512 – Reducing Regulations For Small Business

COLUMBIA, SC – Governor Nikki Haley was joined today by Senator Sean Bennett, Representative Derham Cole and Joseph Ackerman, President of Conquest Brewing Company, for a ceremonial bill signing of H.3512, the South Carolina Brewery Bill. Among other changes, the new law allows South Carolina breweries to serve both food and the alcohol they produce in the same establishment – allowing them to expand their business, create more jobs, and help improve the state’s economy as a whole.

“We’re always trying to find ways to make sure government doesn’t get in the way of business in South Carolina. This bill is another way that we’ve been able to cut restrictions and allow our small businesses to continue driving our growing economy,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. “Small businesses make up the vast majority of our economy and when they thrive, they create jobs – more jobs lead to a better quality of life for the people of South Carolina, and that has always been the goal.”

“This change quickly moves South Carolina into a position of leadership for the fast growing craft brewing industry that is experiencing such great success across the United States,” said Senator Sean Bennett. “It further enhances our state as a place where entrepreneurs can thrive. Where they can create jobs, invest capital, and positively impact the communities in which they operate.”

“H.3512 is a prime example of the legislature doing its part to make South Carolina a top destination for thriving businesses,” said Representative Derham Cole. “The craft beer industry is booming in neighboring states, and there’s no reason we can’t have that same economic growth right here. I have always said government needs to get out of the way and let businesses do what they do best. This bill does just that.”
