Governor's Mansion Christmas Open House

COLUMBIA, SC – Governor Nikki Haley, First Gentleman Michael Haley and the FirstFamily invite South Carolinians to join them for a Christmas Open Houseon Monday, December 10, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Governor’sMansion. The event is free of charge, open to the public and noreservations are required.

The First Family would very muchappreciate if open house guests consider bringing canned goods forHarvest Hope Food Bank as well as school supplies for the Original SixFoundation to donate to public school students. Canned good and schoolsupply donations will be accepted at the Governor’s Mansion.

TheColumbia Garden Club, which has decorated the Governor’s Mansion forChristmas every year since 1981, began decorating the Governor’s Mansion on Monday, December 3, when the Governor’s Mansion received three liveChristmas trees from the South Carolina Christmas Tree GrowersAssociation and poinsettias grown by Future Farmers of America fromLexington Technology Center.

The Haley children, Rena and Nalin,will help decorate the tree displayed in the Charleston Garden.Governor’s Mansion Executive Chef Steven Jankowski will build agingerbread house modeled after the First Family’s residence, andwreaths within the Mansion Complex will be made and hung by theHorticulture Division of the South Carolina Department of Corrections.Carillon Carolers of Columbia, S.C. will be performing for guests.

Regular guided Christmas tours will also be available December 11-13 and 18-20at 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM.  They are also free of charge, butare by reservation only.  Anyone interested in scheduling a tour shouldcall Nancy Bunch at (803) 737-1710.
