Greenville County College Fair at the TD Convention Center
October 20, 2011GREENVILLE, SC – October 23, 2011 – Greenville County and Upstate area students will soon have the opportunity to meet with representatives of more than 100 colleges and universities.Approximately 130 institutions will be represented at the Greenville County College Fair on Oct. 23 and 24 at the TD Convention Center in Greenville.
The fair is open both days to the general public, from 2:30 – 4:30 pm on Sunday, Oct.23, and from 9 – 11:30 am on Monday, Oct. 24.
Workshop sessions will be held on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:30 pm; topics include college admissions tests, financial aid, and college application processes. The workshops will be conducted by college representatives and are open to anyone interested.
Registration is not required to attend the college fair or the workshops.
Greenville County schools will bus their juniors and seniors to the college fair on Monday to allow them opportunities to talk with the college representatives in attendance. Over 3,500 students will attend the college fair on Monday.
Participating in the fair will be a wide range of two- and four-year institutions primarily from across the Carolinas and the Southeast U.S. Also being represented will be institutions such as Syracuse University, Vanderbilt University, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy.
“We are excited once again to have such a diverse, high-caliber group of college and university representatives participating in the Greenville County College Fair. The fair is a great way for our local high school students to learn more about what each college has to offer – from academics, to athletics, to student activities. Being able to talk one-on-one with these representatives is a great opportunity that should not be passed up,” says college fair committee chairperson Linda Schulz.
In conjunction with the event, Greenville Mayor Knox White has declared the week of Oct. 23-30 as “Bridges to College Week” in the city of Greenville.
“[I] encourage all citizens to participate in educational programs and activities to make a visible statement that we are strongly committed to helping all students bridge the education gap in Greenville, SC,” White says in the proclamation.
