GSP International Airport starts the year with a nearly 7% increase in passenger traffic

March 29, 2018

GSP Airport District officials report that the airport experienced an increase in passenger traffic for the 4th consecutive month. January traffic statistics show nearly a 7% increase compared to the same time period in 2017.

GSP welcomed 154,489 passengers in January 2018 compared to 144,635 in January 2017. That’s a 6.8% increase. According to GSP Airport District President/CEO Dave Edwards, “It’s an exciting trend for GSP. We have consistently seen more passengers and we are prepared for those numbers to keep climbing.”

Passenger load factors were also strong at an average 72.7%. The airport’s cargo traffic numbers were also strong in January with the District reporting an increase of 34.5% when compared to the January 2017 numbers. “This continued growth in cargo traffic supports the initial investment that the District made when launching Cerulean Aviation the division of the organization responsible for handling cargo traffic. These are just January numbers. We have every confidence that this trend will continue in 2018 making it one of the best years ever for GSP.”
