Habitat’s CEO build participants dedicate 2016 home

On Wednesday, June 22, twenty-three of Greenville’s top CEO’s dedicated their latest project –construction of a home for the Delanuez family, in Habitat Greenville’s fourth annual CEO Build.
As participants in the Habitat program, the Delanuez’s have completed 200 hours of sweat equity and 25 hours of homeownership preparation classes. At the dedication, the family will be presented with gifts that will prepare them for life as homeowners, including a lawnmower, a tool set, cleaning supplies, a framed watercolor, and a quilt for each member of the family, handmade by Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild.
Habitat Greenville’s CEO build is an annual event that unites companies from across business sectors to fund and construct a home for a Greenville family with low income. Each CEO‘s company supported the build through both financial sponsorship and volunteer hours. Many CEO Build participants are continuing supporters of Habitat’s mission, either through consistent participation in the CEO Build or through sponsorship of individual home builds.
“Habitat profoundly changes the lives of homeowners and their family for generations to come. As a company, our participants always seem to get as much out of the experience as they give,” said Steve Harkins, President and CEO of SC Telco Federal Credit Union, a two-time CEO build participant. SC Telco and its employees also fully funded and helped build a Habitat home in 2013.
Dick Wilkerson, Michelin Chairman and President (retired) has chaired the project since its inception in 2013. This year’s participants include AFL Global; Bon Secours St. Francis Health System; Community Foundation of Greenville; Complete Public Relations; Design Strategies; Ethox Chemicals, LLC; Fluor Corporation; Fresh Water Systems, Inc.; GBS Building Supply; Greater Greenville Association of Realtors; Greenville County Redevelopment Authority; Greenville Health System; Greenville Technical College; Home Builders Association of Greenville; JHM Hotels; Lockheed Martin; SC Telco Federal Credit Union; Southern Fried Green Tomatoes; The Blood Connection; The Marchant Company; United Way of Greenville County; and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
