Holy Cross Pumpkin Patch distributes $33,350 in proceeds

February 20, 2015

SIMPSONVILLE, SC –Holy Cross Episcopal Church will distribute a total of $33,350 among 11 local charities as proceeds from the 2014 pumpkin patch. This donation marks a 50% increase in proceeds from the previous year.

The pumpkin patch began as a ministry of the church to raise funds for its contribution to an annual Habitat for Humanity build. It has grown over the years to provide funding to other local non-profit agencies and ministry partners of the church.

In addition to Habitat for Humanity, the beneficiaries of this year’s patch proceeds include the Center for Community Services, Fountain Inn Kid Enrichment, Holy Cross Academy, James Monroe Mission House, Little Steps, Kairos Outside, Safe Harbor, Santa Cruz, Synergy Garden and Upstate Warrior Solution.

This was the ninth year that the church has operated its pumpkin patch in front of Vaughn’s Country Store at 109 W. Trade Street in downtown Simpsonville. The patch has raised $145,000 in total donations over nine years.

“We are so grateful to the community for supporting our patch year after year. We had an incredibly successful year and our 11 ministry partners will benefit greatly,” said Patch organizer Randy Cockrill.
