Improvements planned for Summit Parkway and Summit Ridge Drive intersection

April 13, 2016

Improvements for local intersections will begin through the Richland County Transportation Penny Program.  Richland County has awarded a contract for six intersection improvements to C.R. Jackson, Inc., a locally-owned construction contractor in Columbia. Richland County is sensitive to the impact that these improvement projects may have on residents and business owners in the area; however, the County’s goal is to improve safety and traffic flow at the six existing intersections.

The first intersection project is designed to improve traffic flow and safety at the Summit Parkway and Summit Ridge Drive intersection.  Utility and Road Construction will begin in April of 2016. Project enhancements include a new right turn lane on Summit Parkway; a second left turn lane on Summit Ridge Drive; and a replacement of the existing traffic signal.

All motorists traveling through the project area are asked to be aware of the equipment and crews and to be prepared for delays during construction. Alternative routes are recommended if possible.

The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.

The contractor, C.R. Jackson, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance of the intersection for the duration of the project.  Please contact Elizabeth Jackson at (803) 750-6070 or Email: [email protected] for any questions or further construction related information.  Project updates will also be available at www.richlandpenny.com.
