SOUTH CAROLINA – January 10, 2011 – Statewide summary – Districts 1,2, 3 and 4 are experiencing heavy snow and are plowing theirinterstates. District 5 is reporting snow in the northern counties withsleet reported in the southern counties. They are plowing and treatingwith deicing chemicals as needed. District 7 is reporting sleet and snowin all counties. Their crews are applying deicing chemicals and plowingin Aiken and Orangeburg Counties. District 6 is reporting mostly dryroads.

Engineering District 1 – District 1 is reporting heavysnow in all counties. All roads are covered with snow and ice.Temperatures range from 27 to 30 degrees. Crews are pushing snow andplacing anti-icing materials with the focus of their efforts oninterstate routes.

Engineering District 2 – Temperatures in District 2 arecurrently ranging from 26 to 28 degrees. They are currentlyexperiencing snow in all counties in District 2. All roads are coveredwith snow and ice. All counties are plowing and treating roads andbridges with anti-icing materials with the focus of their efforts oninterstate routes.

Engineering District 3 – Temperatures in District 3 arecurrently ranging from 24 to 27 degrees. They are currentlyexperiencing snow in all counties in District 3. All roads are coveredwith snow and ice. All counties are plowing and treating roads andbridges with anti-icing materials with the focus of their efforts oninterstate routes.

Engineering District 4 – Temperatures in District 4range from 23 to 32 degrees. All counties are currently reporting heavysnow. All roads are covered with snow and ice. All counties are plowingand treating roads and bridges with anti-icing materials with the focusof their efforts on interstate routes.

Engineering District 5 – Temperatures in District 5range from 26 to 32 degrees. Darlington, Dillon, Florence and MarlboroCounties are reporting snow. The roads in these areas are partiallycovered with snow and ice. Horry, Marion and Williamsburg counties arereporting sleet or freezing rain. The road conditions in these countiesare reported as wet. All counties are treating roads and bridges withanti-icing materials as appropriate.

Engineering District 6
– Temperatures in District 6 range from30 to 34 degrees. Sleet has been reported in some areas. Road conditionsare reported as wet. County crews will continue to monitor thesituation and respond as conditions warrant.

Engineering District 7 – Temperatures in District 7range from 24 to 30 degrees. Sleet and snow are falling across thedistrict. Road conditions are reported as wet with the exception ofAiken and Orangeburg Counties which are reporting roads covered withsnow and ice. District crews are treating roads and bridges with deicingchemicals and plowing as needed.
