The ReUP advisor provides readmitted adult students with comprehensive support and guidance. This position serves as a liaison with OneSpartanburg staff to connect adult learners with the University. This position assists the students with choosing a major, academic life coaching, and career planning and guides the student through the process of credit for prior learning. Additionally, the position works collaboratively with the students to help them achieve their educational and professional goals, overcome any barriers they may encounter, and connect them with the relevant resources and opportunities on campus and in the community.
• Navigate readmitted students through the major transitions of college enrollment. Provide programming for students as they enter, continue to enroll, and leave the institution. Maintains a caseload and works directly with students to accomplish educational goals. Key aspects include maintaining the integrity of academic policies while being a student advocate and fostering a culture of student responsibility and success. Provide students with personalized academic plans and information about possible consequences of academic decisions. Assist students with strategies to meet the graduation requirements and succeed in their chosen programs.
• Provide individual guidance and academic life coaching for students to adult readmitted students. Utilize best practices to help students define academic, personal, and career paths. Follow USC Upstate academic Life coaching policies and procedures. Properly document meetings with students and report other student success metrics.
• Monitor and track the academic progress and retention of readmitted adult students and intervene as needed to provide additional support or referrals Maintain accurate data for reports and informed decision-making. Keeps advising statistics, work schedules, and other reporting documents up-to-date. Monitor and respond to students using advising software (Starfish).
• Advise readmitted adult students on the policies and procedures for obtaining credit for prior learning, such as transfer credits, portfolio assessment, credit for industry certifications, or AP/CLEP/IB credit.
• Collaborate with other academic advisors, faculty, staff, and external partners to facilitate the transition and integration of readmitted adult students into the university community. Serve as a liaison with OneSpartanburg for student referrals.
• Assist readmitted adult students with career planning and exploration. Collaborate with Career Management to assist students with resumes, mock interviews, and job search skills.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training activities to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in academic support of adult learners, academic life coaching, career planning, and assessment of prior learning for credit.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related field and at least three years of experience in social work, life coaching, career counseling, or academic advising or a similar role in a higher education setting. A successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred; Experience working with adult students.

Salary:
$45,133 – $47,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
