Join a Lowcountry Tradition and Come Aboard the Holiday Magic Parade of Boats
November 22, 2010CHARLESTON, SC – The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs and the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron are seeking decorated vessels of all shapes and sizes for the 2010 Holiday Magic Parade of Boats. The parade through the Charleston harbor is on Saturday, December 4 from 4pm to 8pm, with viewing starting from the Charleston peninsula around 6:30pm.
Prizes will be awarded in both power and sail categories at the Captain’s Party on December 5. Entry fees are $25 for recreational vessels and $50 for commercial vessels. Registration forms are due to the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs by Thursday, December 2 at 4pm. Presented by the City of Charleston, Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston offers family-oriented activities and performances that capture the spirit of the season for everyone in the community. Marion Square, located at King, Calhoun and Meeting Streets, is the site of Charleston’s Official Holiday Tree and holiday entertainment stage, as well as drop-off location for Debi’s Kids and the Salvation Army Angel Tree. For the month of December, the park will be beautifully lighted and decorated for the holidays, including the 60-foot Holiday Tree of Lights, a Hanukkah Menorah and a Kwanzaa Kinari.
