February 10, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Koyo Corporation has raised $20,683 for United Way of the Midlands to support their work in education, financial stability and health.

“Koyo is committed to being a great Corporate Citizen, and supporting the United Way is one of the best ways to demonstrate that commitment,” said Bobby Rowell, Plant Manager.  “I am very proud of how our Associates responded to the needs of the community by stepping up to make our first United Way campaign a success.”

This is the first year that Koyo Corporation has run a campaign for United Way. Koyo’s employee giving totaled $13,870.56, and corporate giving was $6,896. Because Koyo raised the most money of all of United Way’s new campaigns, they were honored with United Way’s “Best New Campaign Award” at the Community Leaders Award Ceremony on Tuesday, February 10 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

United Way of the Midlands is working to ensure that all children have a chance at a quality education. That begins with ensuring that children enter kindergarten ready to learn, read on grade level by third grade and stay on the path to graduation to increase their chance of successful lives. United Way is also working to reduce homelessness, to create affordable housing and to increase access to primary and specialty health care for the uninsured and underinsured throughout the Midlands.

“Only by bringing together companies like Koyo Corporation with the resources, expertise and passion for solving these issues will we be able to accomplish our goals,” said Mac Bennett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “We are fortunate to work with the associates at Koyo that are truly dedicated to creating lasting change in the Midlands.”
