title=Dressing for work used to be like an easy uniform – suit or sport coat with a dress shirt and tie.  However, times have changed and business casual has become the new norm at least one day a week if not every day of the week.  So how does one dress sharp and professionally in a setting where suits and ties are no longer the standard?  It is important to present oneself properly to the public and co-workers because image comes across before words are ever spoken.

One common new office uniform is pleated khaki trousers paired with a casual shirt or polo.  Is this the best choice?  Are there better options?  Whether you are managing a casual restaurant or selling real estate, you want the public to view you as competent and trustworthy.  Obviously, clothing and appearance is only skin deep, but dressing well offers a great starting point for a good business relationship.

Often outfits are fine in terms of style and color, but are not as sharp as they should be because the fit is off.  Too tight, too loose, too long, too short in both trousers and shirts are problems that can detract from a professional casual look.  Your clothing should have a defined shape as it drapes over your body.   Fit, style, color, quality, layering, and details all require your proper attention, so the articles that follow will provide information on how to pull together outfits that will serve you well in today’s more casual workplace.
