Lambert Architecture + Construction Services announced their most recent awards received at the 2016 South Carolina Historic Preservation Awards sponsored by the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation, the SC Department of Archives and History, and the office of the lt. Governor for 522 Lady Street and 1614, 1620, 1626 Main Street. The firm is honored to accept these awards and to be celebrated for these exemplary historic preservation projects in Columbia, SC.

The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation is dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic places of South Carolina. The Historic Preservation Awards recognizes exceptional accomplishments in the preservation, rehabilitation, and interpretation of South Carolina’s architectural and cultural heritage. Lambert Architecture + Construction Services supports these beliefs and knows that re-using existing building stock for new purposes helps save the history and the character of towns and cities. The firm has helped owners breathe new life into abandoned and forgotten buildings and relishes the challenge of taking something old and making it new and exciting again.

This year, Lambert Architecture + Construction Services was recognized under the Honor Awards category that celebrates successful and commendable historic preservation projects around the Palmetto State. The firm received an award for 522 Lady Street along with Landtech and McCrory Construction to honor the project that was the former Columbia Cigar and Candy Store and Warehouse constructed in 1929. This project transformed an abandoned building to a now 29,000 square foot historic office space that combines new materials with original features of this historic structure.

Lambert Architecture + Construction Services also won an award for the 1614, 1620, 1626 Main Street project along with Agape Senior Care and Mashburn Construction. This project was a historic rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of three adjacent buildings on the National Historic Register totaling 52,500 square feet. The renovated complex is the new corporate office of an assisted living organization and houses their senior management, two restaurants, a health club, pharmacy exam rooms, and a conference center. This renovated complex revitalizes and activates this previously faltering and abandoned, block of Main Street in Columbia, South Carolina.
