Leadership Charleston Students Learn About Healthcare at East Cooper Medical Center

April 25, 2011

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – April 22, 2011 -Two members of the 2011 class of Leadership Charleston, Trey Hamilton and Jemella Graham, toured East Cooper Medical Center on Thursday, April 21. The 10-month program is provided through the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, and brings together area professionals who participate in debates, lectures, discussion groups, field experiences, simulations, workshops and case studies. The goal of the program is to develop new leaders who understand the strengths and challenges of the region so they can help bring about positive change in the community.

Before arriving at the hospital Trey Hamilton and Jemella Graham, along with 48 others from Leadership Charleston, met with a panel of CEOs from all four area hospital systems, including Janie Sinacore-Jaberg from East Cooper Medical Center. After their discussion about the current healthcare industry climate, Trey and Jemella traveled to East Cooper Medical Center where they met with the executive team to learn more about the hospital. Afterward, they toured the facility, including the emergency, maternity, nursery and operating departments. Staff members highlighted the hospital’s technology, patient safety initiatives and patient comfort amenities.
