Lexington One Board names new White Knoll High principal

LEXINGTON, SC – The Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees has hired a proven educator as the new leader for White Knoll High School.

During a special called board meeting on June 3, 2016, the board approved Edward (Ted) L. Daughtrey for the position of White Knoll High principal.

Daughtrey has worked for Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia, his entire career. In 1978, he began teaching at Ruffner Junior High School, and he moved to Ingleside Elementary in 1982.

In 1985, he began teaching at Booker T. Washington High School and was promoted to dean there in 1988. He was promoted to assistant principal at Maury High School in 1993, and in 1998 he was promoted to principal at Northside Middle School.

He became principal of Granby High School in 2002. Notable accomplishments while there include improving the on-time graduation for Granby High by eight percent in just six months, improving the promotion of first-time freshmen by 20 percent in two years, and meeting or exceeding state and federal benchmarks for 11 consecutive years.

Daughtrey is a member of the Norfolk Schools Secondary Principals’ Association, Eastern District Principals Association and Athletic Directors Association.

Daughtrey earned a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education at Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in physical education from Old Dominion University.
