Lexington One congratulates its 12 National Merit Scholarship finalists

LEXINGTON, SC — Lexington County School District One congratulates 12 students who advance to the finalist level in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Competition. The program honors talented high school seniors who show exceptional academic ability.

The Lexington One National Merit Scholarship finalists include: Jenna Call, Graham Jackson, Basil Lin, Catherine Shirer, Dallin Williams and Kevin Zhao from Lexington High; Jonathan Aldinger, Logan Blankenbeckler, Matthew Clapp, James Laurence and Qiang Zhang from River Bluff High; and Jacob Cordes from White Knoll High.

These students will compete against other finalists for National Merit $2,500 scholarships, Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and College-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards.

About 1.5 million students entered the 2015 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Only 15,000 of those students advanced to the finalist level.

Approximately 7,600 Merit Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in March.
