Local Businessman Donates to Buy Bulletproof Vests

December 15, 2014

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC – Kershaw County businessman Frank Lee kicked off the effort to purchase replacement bulletproof vests for the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Deputies.

“I’m honored to help provide life-saving vests to the men and women who protect us, ” said Frank Lee, President of Wealth Advisory Services in Camden.

“My wife and I live in Lugoff.  We see how quickly Kershaw County is growing. We want to support our local law enforcement to help keep our community safe.”

In 2011 Kershaw County residents rallied together to raise more than $40,000 towards the purchase of a bulletproof vest for every sworn KCSO officer.  The vests are warranted for five years.  That means soon the deputies who serve us will need new vests.

“Our deputies never know what they will encounter when responding to a call for help,” said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.  “A bullet-proof vest is one of the most important life-saving tools we can give them.  It can literally be the difference between life and death.”

Each vest and cover jacket costs approximately $700.  They are fitted individually to each officer to provide maximum protection.

“If you are looking for a good end of the year donation, this would be it,” said Rajena Miles, Chair of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation.  “Donations are tax deductible and your money stays in the local community.”

“When the public supports law enforcement, everyone wins,” said Miles. “I want all of our deputies to go home at night to their wives and children.”

Donors are asked to please make their checks payable to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation and mail them to:
