Local Celebrities Compete in Dancing with the Stars

The Lexington County School District One Educational Foundation presents Dancing with the Stars Lexington on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 7 p.m., at the Koger Center for the Arts. This exciting event, styled after the popular television show, Dancing with the Stars, helps support the foundation’s efforts to raise money to equip STEM Labs at Lexington One schools, redesign media centers to 21st Century Learning Commons and support FOCUS, Lexington One’s Alternative Learning Center.
Tickets for Dancing with the Stars Lexington are $50 per person and can be purchased at the Koger Center Box Office, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday; charged by phone by calling 803-251-2222, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday; or online at www.capitoltickets.com.
Local celebrities have partnered with professional dancers from Columbia’s Ballroom Company to form the 12 couples competing in Dancing with the Stars Lexington.
The local celebrities include:
Chris Balish, owner of Cola’s Restaurant, Garibaldi’s of Columbia, Anson’s of Charleston, Anson’s of Savannah and The Olde Pink House of Savannah;
Bert Dooley, of The Dooley Law Firm;
Dr. Kim Hicks, of Lexington Family Practice Lake Murray;
Jennifer Holbrook, wife of University of South Carolina Head Baseball Coach Chad Holbrook;
Len Kiese, co-anchor at WIS-TV; Cheryl Layton, executive administrative assistant for Lexington One;
Maria Mungo, of Mungo Homes, Pilates by Maria and Villa Maria’s Kitchen;
Allison Sanford, director of System Marketing for Palmetto Health;
Katrina Shealy, South Carolina senator;
Wally Steinhauser, owner of Wingard’s Nursery and Garden Center;
Chris Wooten, owner of Bodyshop Athletics and Topspin Racquet and Swim Club; and
Lorri Yarborough, of TEAM ia and Palmetto Microfilm Systems, Inc.
In addition to competing for a special Judges Award presented the night of the event, the dancers are competing for People’s Choice first-, second- and third-place mirror-ball trophies determined by online voting taking place until the night of the event.
