Lockheed Martin donates $25,000 to state flood relief efforts

April 6, 2016

Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] presented a check to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for $25,000 to support the state’s flood relief efforts. This donation is in response to the major flooding that hit the state in late 2015, and will be used specifically to support flood recovery costs to return military veterans and their families to their homes.

“At Lockheed Martin, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work,” said Don Erickson, Lockheed Martin Greenville Operations site director. “Our hope is that this gift will not only help restore the tangible losses caused by the flood, but will also provide encouragement to those who were impacted to know that neighbors are working together to rebuild our communities.”

Governor Haley has led the effort to raise funds for One SC, the organization established by the state to help South Carolinians re-build and repair their homes that were damaged or destroyed during the flood.

“We have neighbors and families who are still in need as we continue to re-build a stronger South Carolina, and we are grateful for the continued generosity and kindness of so many across the state and country,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Many state and federal government agencies and non-profits assisted citizens immediately following the flood with short-term needs such as temporary housing, goods and clothing, but now the state has moved into the long-term recovery phase. The greatest anticipated unmet need now is getting people back into a safe, habitable home.
