LRU Center for Graduate Studies of Columbia receives accreditation for counseling program

COLUMBIA, SC – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Center for Graduate Studies of Columbia recently received accreditation by the Council of Accreditation for Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for its Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The Center joins LRU’s other two campuses in Hickory and Asheville, NC in achieving full accreditation by CACREP.

“The accreditation marks the gold standard of education for professional counselors and assures that counseling students receive training consistent with the highest of industry standards,” Dr. Amy Wood, Assistant Provost and Dean of Graduate and Adult Programs at LRU commented. “Program accreditation is increasingly important in distinguishing academic and professional integrity, and we are pleased to have received the CACREP designation and the benefits it provides our students.”

The master level Clinical Mental Health Counseling program offered at LRU’s three campuses include coursework requirements to aid students in obtaining the necessary licensure to begin work as professional counselors. All faculty members are licensed professional counselors who offer and encourage mentor relationships with their students. Courses are available evenings and weekends or on-line to cater to working professionals.
