LTSS welcomes spiritual leader and author Reverend Heidi Neumark

October 21, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC — The Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) of Lenoir-Rhyne University will welcome Lutheran Reverend Heidi Neumark on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. in Alumni Hall. She will present “Hidden Inheritance,” a discussion of her latest novel and work of grappling with anti-Semitism within the church. Following her lecture, Rev. Neumark will engage in further discussions with the community at a reception and book signing. This event is sponsored by the LTSS Academy of Faith and Leadership.

Rev. Neumark has made it her lifelong work to serve the marginalized and oppressed in New York City. It was only in the last six years that she began to reframe her work for social justice when she became aware of her own Jewish roots. In her latest book, Hidden Inheritance: Family Secrets, Memory and Faith, Rev. Neumark journeys into an unimagined past with life-changing repercussions for her future. She is shocked to uncover her Jewish ancestry and successive family loss and trauma through the Holocaust. Her discovery has evoked her passion of combating anti-Semitism and the role of the church in silencing trauma.

Due to limited seating, anyone interested in attending is encouraged to register on-line at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/hidden-inheritance-tickets-1824774585. Guests may reserve a copy of Hidden Inheritance to be signed by Rev. Neumark through the eventbrite site. Payment for the book will be due at the event. Admission to the lecture is free.
