Magnolia encourages blood donations with free admission coupon

June 1, 2016

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is partnering with the American Red Cross to encourage blood donations in June by offering free garden admission to America’s oldest garden.

Give blood or attempt to give blood at an American Red Cross blood drive or donation center in the tri-county area in June to receive a coupon that can be redeemed for admission before July 31. The free admission is not valid in conjunction with other discounts to Magnolia.

“Summer months are particularly difficult for the Red Cross to collect the blood they need to meet hospital demands,” Karen Lucht, Magnolia’s special events coordinator, said. “We are proud to help the Red Cross keep the blood supply strong and be part of something life changing and momentous.”

The American Red Cross has a goal to collect 2,000 units of blood from the tri-county area in June, reported Patrick K. Lamontagne, the agency’s district manager of blood services. All presenting blood donors will receive a coupon, he said.

There are opportunities to donate blood at 58 blood drives across the tri-county area in June and at donation centers in Mount Pleasant and West Ashley. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS, visit redcrossblood.org or download the Red Cross blood donor app.
