Major Robert “Beau” Spafford Named South Carolina Federal Credit Union Volunteer Advisor

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – South Carolina Federal Credit Unionhas selected Major Robert “Beau” Spafford to serve as the newest Volunteer Advisor to its Board of Directors.

The Volunteer Advisor program exists to provide additional input from the membership and to familiarize a select group of individuals, who may in the future serve on the credit union’s Supervisory Committee and/or Board of Directors, with credit union operations.

As a Volunteer Advisor, Spafford will cultivate a strong knowledge of credit union philosophy and operations, attend monthly board meetings and contribute to decisions determining South Carolina Federal’s future. Given his areas of expertise, he will serve as an advisor to the Asset/ Liability Committee.

Spafford is a native of James Island and received his bachelor’s degree from The Citadel and an MBA from the American Military University. He has over 18 years of military service, including three international deployments, and is presently the State Training Officer for the South Carolina Army National Guard.

His honors include; two Bronze Star Medals, six Meritorious Service Medals, a Meritorious Unit Citation, Humanitarian Service Medal andPalmetto Service Ribbon, among others. He currently resides in the Columbia area with his wife and two children.
