Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 10.49.08 AMOn March 24, 2014, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), under the U.S. Department of Labor, instituted new regulations impacting Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Highlights of the new regulations include a 7% utilization goal for employing qualified individuals with disabilities, an invitation to self-identify and much more. Whether you are a U.S. Federal Contractor, subject to the OFCCP or a company with 50+ employees who may only be subject to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) relative to individuals with disabilities, an understanding of what’s required from both a compliance standpoint and an Employer of Choice standpoint, is critical.

“LAC is pleased to partner in this disability summit with Springboard Consulting. Attendees will leave this summit with a comprehensive understanding of the implications, practical tools and applications to do this work successfully and sustainably,” said LAC Founder and Executive Director Dr. Rob Scharstein, a retired radiologist and father of two adult autistic sons.

According to a Springboard Consulting, “The disability community represents the largest minority in the world, in the U.S., surpassing the Hispanic population by 5%”.

LAC was founded in the spring of 2011 as a regional assembly of autism practitioners and families, committed to making the lowcountry a leading center for autism research, diagnosis and treatment, including social skills development, vocational and occupational training, residential care and long-term care planning.
