MAULDIN, SC – February 5, 2014 –  The Mauldin Rotary Club honored a city firefighter, a city policeman and two high school teachers Tuesday at its annual Charter Night banquet.

Gary Brinkley received the Firefighter of the Year Award. Brinkley has spent 18 years with the Mauldin Fire Department and has been a lieutenant since 2008. In March, he collapsed during a local 5K. He spent three months recovering, and was just recently cleared to return to active duty.

Ginger Ernst and Oana Willimon received the Service Above Self Award Tuesday as well.  Both are science teachers at the school and serve as counselors for the Interact Club, which is a Rotary-sponsored program.

Miller serves on the K-9 unit and in 2011 received the 13th Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Teams (AET) Office of the Year award for “outstanding dedication to the enforcement of underage drinking laws and for keeping this community safe and alcohol free.”
