Mayor Benjamin releases statement on former Mayor Coble’s hospitalization

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin released the following statement today in response to former Mayor Bob Coble being transported to Providence Hospital after becoming ill at the South Carolina Statehouse earlier today:

“Bob Coble is probably the most beloved local official this city has had in a generation and I know he can feel our prayers at his back. He has continued to serve the people of this city as a tireless economic, cultural and community leader as well as a trusted mentor and cherished friend to me personally.

“Mayor Coble’s family tells me that he is alert and in good spirits and we will all continue to pray from his full and speedy recovery.”
