MeetingPoint to offer discussion on Kabbalah

August 21, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – For some, Kabbalah is understood as a subset of the Jewish religion. For others, it is a mysterious trend often picked up by celebrities. MeetingPoint, an interfaith organization, aims to educate people of all faiths on this religious tradition in its latest installment of the “Getting Our Stories Straight” discussion series.

The presentation-discussion will be led by Rabbi Leibel Kesselman, a Chasidic rabbi and noted interpreter of the Torah and Kabbalistic-mystical tradition, and will focus on the Kabbalistic perspective on the Epic of Creation. Rabbi Kesselman currently serves as director of Chabad of Greenville and the Upstate and is actively engaged in many teaching, social and outreach initiatives for adults and children.

Rabbi Kesselman is a native of Detroit, and has taught and conducted outreach programs directed toward alienated Jews in Israel, Europe, and the United States. He resides in Simpsonville with his wife, Musie, also a Jewish teacher and program coordinator, and their three young children.

The program will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Hughes Main Library, Meeting Room C, located at 25 Heritage Green Place. The program is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are requested by emailing [email protected].

MeetingPoint is the outgrowth of the Year of Altruism, and aims to create genuine interfaith opportunities through study, worship, fellowship, and compassionate service.

The Year of Altruism started in 2013 to encourage and celebrate altruism in thought, speech and deed, focusing the community on fostering acts of kindness in its organizations and individuals, thus creating a better future, one life at a time.
