Midlands school district recognized for record fundraising efforts

February 22, 2016

Richland Two employees will be recognized for donating more than $116,000 for the community during the 2015 United Way of the Midlands campaign. The United Way will recognize the district for outstanding giving at the school board meeting, February 23 at 7 p.m., at Catawba Trail Elementary School, 1080 Old National Highway, Elgin. The top elementary, middle and high school and center will receive plaques and certificates for their successful campaigns.

Earlier this month, the United Way of the Midlands’ LIVE United Awards Ceremony presented the district with the Best in Class Award in the Public Sector for organizations with more than 100 employees. The district was selected based on percentage of participation, employee per capita gifts and having more than a 10 percent increase over last year’s giving. Sixteen schools and departments were honored for per capita awards. Richland Two continues to raise more money for United Way than any other Midlands school district.
