“We want to do everything possible to provide our students a clear pathway to the next step in their educational process,” said MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames. “With the signing of this MOU, we will make our students’ transition even smoother, and it will lead to an increase in the number of MTC students who transfer to Columbia College.”

The Bridge Program provides opportunities for students with associate degrees from MTC to successfully transfer to Columbia College as juniors. These students are linked to their transition to Columbia College early in their journey at MTC, and they are provided clear pathways and supportive activities that enhance their transfer success.

“Columbia College is proud of our long-standing partnership with Midlands Technical College,” said Columbia College President Elizabeth A. Dinndorf. “These new agreements further strengthen our partnership and give more students a clear and seamless path to achieving their education and career goals. Together, we are providing students throughout Columbia and the Midlands more educational options and opportunities.”

“MTC students have transferred to Columbia College for many years. This memorandum now formally expands the transfer program transfer opportunities to many students earning degrees in programs such as business, human services, nursing, and health sciences through articulated program agreements,” said Rhames.

The MTC and CC collaboration serves students by providing program support and services that facilitate the transfer process, and prepares students desiring to enroll at Columbia College. MTC students also have the opportunity to participate in certain Columbia College programs and events while still enrolled at Midlands Technical College.

“We look forward to a mutually advantageous partnership through this Bridge Program,” said Rhames. “We want to open the door of opportunity even wider for our students to continue their higher education journey earn their bachelor’s degrees at Columbia College.”
