NAACP To Host African American Economic Summit on Job Creation and Economic Prosperity

COLUMBIA, SC – The South Carolina State Conference, NAACP will hold a statewide summit on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Claflin University in Orangeburg.

The African American Economic Summit now in its fourth consecutive year, will focus on job creation, entrepreneurship and economic opportunity.  The African American Economic Summit is sponsored by the South Carolina NAACP in partnership with the Business School at Claflin University.  “The Summit’s ultimate goal is to stimulate interest and activity that advances economic prosperity for African Americans in South Carolina”said Dr. Lonnie Randolph, state president of the NAACP.  “As job prospects and economic conditions improve for African Americans, a corresponding positive impact is produced for the economy in general.”

Registration is available online through Thursday, July 30 at www.aaes2015.eventbrite.com. All sessions are free and open to the public with the exception of the Annual CEO Luncheon which requires a ticket purchase. The Annual CEO Luncheon  will feature as special guests, Corey Simmons and Ramone Dickerson, co-founders of 2Fat2Fly, a Columbia-based restaurant startup that is gaining in popularity since its recent association with OWN TV.

The 2015 African American Economic Summit will offer a wide range of topics to include: Growing Jobs through Technical Schools; African-AmericanBuying Power in SC; Influencing Local Economic Diversity Policy; Solar Energy Options; Business Planning and Development; A New Look at SC Tourism; Youth Entrepreneurship; and Financial Planning, Wealth and Estate Matters.

Claflin University is located at 400 Magnolia Street in Orangeburg, SC.  Onsite registration and check-in will start at 8:00 AM at the Grace Thomas KennedyBuilding.   The opening session will begin at 9:00 AM.
