October 28, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – High Cotton restaurant, known for its flavorful, inspired regional cuisine, exceptional hospitality, and its commitment to local products, announced the hiring of Haydn Shaak as Sous Chef of High Cotton Greenville.

Shaak earned an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Greenville Technical College.  His culinary career began when he worked as kitchen apprentice under his father who was classically trained at Culinary Institute of America. Shaak has held positions of Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef.  Most recently Shaak served as Executive Chef at Westminster Retirement, where he managed all culinary operations.

With nearly ten years of professional culinary experience, Haydn Shaak will be a great asset to High Cotton Greenville.   Shaak has developed into a talented chef with a passion for presenting inspired food that evokes an emotional response, “first with the eyes and then with the taste buds,” Shaak professes.

The opportunity to work with High Cotton’s Executive Chef Adrian Carpenter was particularly attractive to Shaak.  Describing Adrian’s cuisine as pioneering, Shaak said, “In the culinary world, Adrian not only thinks outside the box, he has created a whole new box and has been successful in getting his culinary team thinking outside of that new box with him.  That is exciting to me, and I am eager to be a part of what Adrian is building in Greenville and the southeast as a whole.”
