Nickelodeon Theatre Hosts Southern Gothic Series

COLUMBIA, SC – The Nickelodeon Theatre, South Carolina’s only non-profit art house film theater, will host the “Southern Gothic Series,” six films offering a spectrum of Southern fiction stories on screen, June 8 – July 12, 2015.

Co-curated by Seth Gadsden, managing director of the Nick, and Tug Baker, Nickelodeon staff member, the series features fictional films that depict a decaying and conflicted rural America in the first half of the 20th century but still remain relevant to life in America in the first half of the current century.

Additionally, To Kill a Mockingbird, the film based on Harper Lee’s classic fiction book of the same name, is scheduled to screen on July 14, the same day that Lee’s newly discovered novel, Go Set a Watchman: A Novel, is set to be released.

Southern Gothic Series films:
– June 8, 7 p.m. and June 9, 3 p.m.: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
– June 15, 7 p.m. and June 16, 3 p.m.: The Night of the Hunter
– June 22, 7 p.m. and June 23, 3 p.m.: Down by Law
– June 29, 7 p.m. and June 30, 3 p.m.: Deliverance
– July 6, 7 p.m. and July 7, 3 p.m.: George Washington
– July 12, 3 p.m.; July 13, 7 p.m.; July 14, 3 p.m.: To Kill a Mockingbird
