Nonprofit Leaders and Board Members Gathered at Shine the Light

July 24, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – DNA Creative Communications (DNA), in partnership with the Hollingsworth Funds, Community Foundation of Greenville and United Way of Greenville County, hosted Developing and Engaging a High Performing Board, the second of a four-part series of Shine the Light Nonprofit Forums (STL), on July 16.

“We are excited to see a rising interest in nonprofit training and leadership from organizations in the state,” said Debbie Nelson, President of DNA and founder of STL. “With attendance increasing at each STL session, our community will see more positive impacts from these organizations.”

More than 125 executive directors and nonprofit leaders from the state gathered at STL to learn, collaborate and plan with their board members. Keynote speaker Susan Meier, founder of Meier and Associates, joined us from Washington, DC to share her expertise on board development and leadership. A panel of three local leaders joined Meier in discussing their experience managing or serving on boards in the area:

Scot Baddley, YMCA of Greenville
Kathy McKinney, Haynsworth, Sinkler & Boyd, P.A.
Chandra Dillard, Furman University

This year’s STL focus is on four key elements of nonprofit leadership. All sessions are held at the Kroc Center from 8 a.m. − noon with a networking breakfast. The remaining two sessions are:

· Expanding Leadership Beyond Your Walls on September 9, featuring Sydney Rogers, Executive Director of Alignment Nashville

· Leading for Sustainability on November 19, featuring Kathy Hedge, author and Nonprofit Consultant
