Nonprofit leaders explore organizational vibrancy at Shine the Light

July 13, 2016

GREENVILLE, SC – DNA Creative Communications (DNA), in partnership with Community Foundation of Greenville, United Way of Greenville County and Hollingsworth Funds, hosted “Creating a Vibrant Organization That Fosters Forward Thinking” on July 12 at The Warehouse Theatre.

“As a cheerleader for the nonprofit sector, I encourage and challenge Greenville’s nonprofit leaders to dream bigger about what is possible. Design strategies that are built upon bold, authentic conversations and diverse voices. Keep your stakeholders engaged and informed. Ask difficult questions to help identify solutions to complex internal and external problems. Always start with the end in mind. Be the change agents that drive your organizations and our community forward toward greater vibrancy,” shared Debbie Nelson, founder and organizer of Shine the Light.

More than 100 nonprofit leaders gathered at Shine the Light to learn, collaborate and plan strategies for moving forward and developing a vibrant organizational culture with their team members. Tod Tappert, Greenville Health System vice president, chief of staff and system chief learning officer, and Elizabeth Jende, MOVE Performance Consulting president and founder, kicked the day off with a “Behind the Curtain Conversation” about the importance of vibrancy in organizational culture.

Participants joined local business and community leaders in forward-thinking conversations in Shine the Light’s Innovation Labs. Together, they shared their experiences and insights on how they can move their organizations toward greater vibrancy. Innovation Lab facilitators included Tod Tappert – Greenville Health System, Elizabeth Jende – MOVE Performance Consulting, Evan Cramer – UCW Logistics, Megan Dodgens – The Riley Institute at Furman, Whitney Hanna – Greenville County Schools, Meliah Bowers Jefferson – Wyche Law Firm, Addy Matney – TM Public Relations, Carlos Quintero – Sales Effectiveness, Inc., Tamela Spann – Hollingsworth Funds, Beverly Ward – Talent Management, Dan Weidenbenner – Mill Village Farms, and Sharon Whitney – United Community Bank.

Nelson and Shine the Light collaborator Tan Kirby Davis closed the workshop by presenting the key factors that enable organizations to develop a vibrant culture. They introduced The Vibrancy Continuum, a leadership tool developed by Shine the Light to assess, monitor and implement new strategies to achieve greater organizational vibrancy.
